SSC Dedication Opportunities

Visit the Jewish communities of Tashkent, Buchara, and Pyategorsk on the Southwestern corner of the former Soviet Union and in the quiet rural lands you will find Jews, Sephardic Jews, tens of thousands of them. These Jews have been all but forgotten; out of the limelight, they escaped attention. There is extraordinary eagerness for Jewish education. The Jewish population in general is proud of their Jewish values and has retained their identity through their particular traditional customs. After years of neglect under communist rule we are now witnessing a phenomenal spiritual revolution.

Thanks to The Shehebar Sephardic Center there are fifteen Rabbis and teachers educating over 1000 children at our three schools. Our Rabbis have built mikvaot and are trained in the skill of ritual slaughtering so as to provide the community with Kosher meat. More help is needed. It costs $2,000 annually to fund each child at our schools and there is a tremendous demand for tefillin, siddurim, and other religious articles.

  • $200 pair of Tefillin

  • $30 Bible with Russian translation

  • $25 Tallit

  • $10 Siddur

  • $100 "Sponsor of the Month"
